JGC-Descon Engineering (Pvt.) Limited was founded in 2000 by JGC Corporation of Japan and Descon Engineering Limited of Pakistan. JGC Corporation holds 51% of the shares and Descon Engineering Limited holds 49%.

JGC-Descon undertakes comprehensive, integrated engineering and design work. With around 800,000 engineering man hours per year at its disposal, it is the only company operating out of Pakistan which provides such services at this scale to oil & gas, petrochemicals, refining, chemicals, power, cement, infrastructure and fertilizer sectors.

JGC-Descon operates from its modern 60,000 square feet, custom-built design facility situated at Ferozpur Road, Lahore, and from its modern office situated at Sharah-e-Faisal, Karachi; An integrated, multi-disciplinary team of engineers, designers, draftsmen, CADD specialists and project management personnel undertake the most challenging and complex engineering tasks. The Karachi operations were started in 2004.

Other than JGC and Descon Engineering, which are its major customers, JGC-Descon lists amongst its clients, customers who demand high level of technical capabilities and a very high quality of service. In Pakistan, customers include, PARCO, Pakistan Petroleum, Pakistan Refinery, OMV (Pakistan), MOL Pakistan B.V, AES, BHP Billiton Pakistan, BP Pakistan, ICI Pakistan, Pakistan PTA, Mari Gas, Engro Fertiliser, Fauj Fertiliser, Pak-American Fertiliser, Fatima Fertiliser. Overseas, JGC-Descon has had the honor of working for amongst its clients, well known names such as ABB Engineering Services, United Kingdom; Chemtex, United States; DAR Engineering, Saudi Arabia; and Mechanical contracting and Services Company , Bahrain.

Overseas, JGC-Descon engineers are very proud of having contributed to major world class plants through JGC and Descon, such as the Shell Pearly GTL plant in Qatar, Petro-Vietnam’s Dung Quat Refinery in Vietnam, Ras Laffan gas plant and the Dolphin project in Qatar, Exxon Mobil’s Boney River Oil Terminal project, Nigeria, Atyarau Refinery reconstruction project in Kazakhstan, Jubail Chevron Phillip’s ethylene facility in Saudi Arabia, ADCO Bab Field expansion in Abu Dhabi, WASCO (Centurion) El Wastani gas and LPG plant in Egypt, Saudi National Chevron Phillip’s ethylene facility in Saudi Arabia, ADCO HIPPS project in Abu Dhabi, SCECO Sharourah power plant in Saudi Arabia, Fertil ammonia and urea revamp project in Abu Dhabi, and Banagas Compression plant in Bahrain.

In Pakistan, JGC-Descon has been a proud partner of country’s progress, and its staff has engineered entire facilities, such as OMV Pakistan’s Kadanwari gas plant enhancement projects, Petronas Carigali’s Rehmat gas plant, MOL’s Gurguri gas plant, MOL’s Manzalai gas plant, Bosicor’s CDU revamp project, Descon Oxychem’s hydrogen peroxide plant, Halmore’s 225 MW combined cycle power plant, OGDCL’s Dakhni sulphur recovery unit, Pakistan Petroleum’s Mazarani gas plant, and Engro’s carbon di-oxide recovery project.
